Your can specify the credential location in “mount” command by using argument “-o”, the could should like the following:

mount -t cifs //ip/share /mnt/backups -o credentials=/path/filename

The cred file has to have a specific format.

username=value
password=value
domain=value

Is not necesary to use “quotes”, just enter your user and password, if you have a domain do it, otherwhise just remove it and use username and password.
